He simply said how me and him thought we got off on a wrong foot and cussing each other out, but now we know each other better and both apologized. Early experience in his life gave him an understandable hatred of oppression and violence against innocent people...the reason he hates HOLY, and a reason I can understand wholeheartedly. He likes Kazuma for his independent spirit and rebelliousness, both of which are also qualities I admire in characters, just not in Kazuma.
I then explained to him my hatred of Kazuma with what I'm about to tell you too. The following describes why I hate Kazuma and similar characters, so please read if you want to know more.
My reasons
The whole reason I hate so-called "righteously motivated" violence against the more delicate specimens of evil, is because I witnessed police brutality when I was only 3 years old: A crazed, huge and probably intoxicated cop assaulted a teenage girl who had supposedly done something bad and wrong.
At that time too I was introduced to the concept of Hell and the wrath of God...whoever told me about divine wrath scared me horribly and scarred me for life. I was always fearful and resentful of angry, violent, barbaric men who supposedly were "righteous" but punished and crushed those weaker than themselves.
That really helped me understand Syrayian's hatred of HOLY...many of HOLY's members are very abusive, violent individuals who would probably scare me when I was little as much as Kazuma would have.
I however, take my feelings and opinions outside the series canon and into the real world, as I think I transcend the arbitrary rules set by the series to see more of what is going on...HOLY are meant to be the bad guys, therefor it is okay and encouraged to hate them and all their atrocities.
Kazuma, as I see him, is the true figure of justice and righteousness as defined by the series' creator Taniguchi Goro. Thus, when Kazuma commits similar atrocities we are supposed to sympathize with him and see his violent, morally-questionable actions as justified punishment against the bad guys.
This whole mentality reminds me of the 10 Plagues of Egypt from the Old Testament...horrible actions of terror and torture inflicted on even innocent men, women and children ('kill every firstborn,' anyone?) of the offending group, who are all blamed and judged as entirely evil based on the actions of a handful of evil ones.
These abominable abuses were supposedly committed by God to free an oppressed people, but through the same violent atrocities committed by the oppressors. However this time it's supposedly "justified" because God/Kazuma/whoever is doing it...thus it makes it supposedly righteous.
I want to finish up about Scheris. When I was around the same age I witnessed the police brutality, I had a vision of a winged girl who to this day I've treated as a "guardian angel," (one of the sakura for those who know about them) who strongly resembled Scheris's alter Eternal Devote. And when I started watching s-CRY-ed I felt that girl's presence in Scheris when watching (call me a crazy bastard if you will...I'm prepared for whatever yu think,) and being one of those superstitious teenagers I almost believed her to be her reincarnation or something. But also, that damn cop's presence I felt in Kazuma, also carrying the presence of the violent male God that was attempted to be burned into my head.
And I can't help my chivalry...it stemmed from a time I sensed the girl's presence in my mom and fought back my dad when he was fighting with her. My first involuntary rush to defend my guardian.
